pub

At The Woolpack, we’ve always felt that a pub isn’t just about great food, good drink, and lively conversation—it’s about the community.

After all, it’s the people of Tenterden who make this place so special. That’s why we’re excited to tell you about our latest partnership with the Tenterden Social Hub & Dementia Centre, a charity that’s been supporting our town for over 60 years.

From Autumn 2024, whenever you dig into our famous fish and chips, you’re not just enjoying one of Britain’s favourite meals—you’re helping out those who need it most. For every portion of fish and chips we sell, we’re donating £1 to the Tenterden Social Hub, an amazing charity that does so much for our elderly, disabled, and vulnerable neighbours. With fish and chips being one of our most popular dishes, we’re aiming to make a significant impact throughout this year!

A Lifeline for the Community

The Tenterden Social Hub has been a lifeline for many, offering a welcoming space for social activities, daily meals-on-wheels, and services that help combat isolation. But their mission relies on community support. You can get involved by donating to their cause or volunteering your time to be a part of their amazing work.

Volunteers are highly valued and play key roles, from supporting member activities and delivering Meals-on-Wheels to helping in the EC30 coffee shop or charity shop, or even driving minibuses. It’s a fantastic way to make a difference in the lives of elderly and disabled members while contributing your own unique skills. Learn more about these opportunities on their website and see how you can make a difference.

A more connected, caring Tenterden

As Duane Webster, our General Manager, puts it: “The Woolpack is deeply committed to supporting the Tenterden Social Hub. Their incredible work in our community really resonates with our core values. We’re so proud to be part of this partnership, which helps create a more connected, caring Tenterden.”

But this isn’t just about donations—it’s about making a real difference. Each time you tuck into our crispy fish and chips, you’re doing your bit to ensure that services like meals, companionship, and support are available to those who need them the most. It’s a simple, delicious way to help. And as Suzanne Hutchings, the Administrative Support Manager at Tenterden Social Hub, says: “Partnering with The Woolpack means so much to us. Their support not only raises our profile but also provides the much-needed funds to further our mission of supporting our community.”

Like us, if you own a business locally and want to support your community, you might consider choosing the Tenterden Social Hub as your charity partner. It’s a wonderful way to highlight your positive social impact while offering your team rewarding opportunities to give back. Sponsorships not only help this vital local charity but also provide a meaningful way for your team to make a difference. Find our more here.

More Than Just Fish & Chips

This partnership is part of a broader campaign across Balfour’s pubs, supporting local causes in Kent, Sussex, and the Cotswolds. Each of our countryside pubs has chosen a charity close to its heart—whether it’s caring for the elderly, supporting children who’ve experienced trauma, or protecting the environment. Just like at The Woolpack, every £1 from fish and chips sold at our sister pubs goes directly to a local cause.

Whether you’re visiting The Tickled Trout, West Farleigh, The Swan, Forest Row, The Windmill, Hollingbourne, The Ship Inn, Rye, The Falcon Inn, Painswick, or The Goudhurst Inn, Goudhurst, you’ll find us working alongside local charities that are making a real difference.

So next time you’re craving a plate of our freshly battered fish and chips, know that every bite is helping to support something meaningful. Or if want to help from the comfort of your own home, make a donation today, or simply spread the word- there are so many ways to get involved. Small gestures can create a big impact, and we’d love for you to join us in this movement for good.

At The Woolpack, we’re proud to be more than just a place to eat—we’re a pub with purpose, and community is at our heart. Let’s make a difference together, one fry at a time.
